Fun Fridays at Burwood

We are so excited to have our pool this summer that we are throwing a party EVERY Friday!  The Burwood Committee has special themed events planned for all, so come on down!  Be there Monday through Thursday as well to enjoy games, puzzles, coloring, corn hole, badminton, and daily arts and crafts projects like painting, chalk, collage, play dough, sand art, and beading (just to mention a few!) offered throughout the day--rain or shine!

June 2              *Opening Day Celebration/Pot Luck Picnic/grill out

                        Get there early for hot dogs, fun and games, and, if you can, bring a salad or dessert to share.   

 June 13                         Marvelous Me

            A special day to celebrate ourselves and our friends with personalized crafts and snacks.

June 20                         Pirates Ahoy

                        Bring yer mateys down for special pirate games, crafts, and treats. 

June 27 *                        Watermelon Fest

                        Bring a watermelon to enter in the watermelon carving contest, the greased watermelon relay, or just to enjoy in homemade watermelon sorbet.  We also encourage all to bring a creative watermelon treat to share! 

July 3 (Thurs.)             *Hooray for the USA

                        Sorry, no fireworks, but join us for a patriotic ice cream sundae party, and don’t forget to bring a shirt, socks, or other item for red, white and blue tie dye! (Pool closed Friday.)

July 11                 Funtastic Food

                        This week’s activities all involve FOOD such as beans, dried pasta, goldfish crackers, and fruit. We will collage, print, and more throughout the whole week, so don’t miss a minute!

 ·July 18               *X-Mas in July

                        Next week is Norwood Day, and we are planning to be in the parade.  Our float will be called “Our Pool: the Best Gift Ever!” It will feature an oceanic X-mas theme.  We will spend this week making ornaments and decorations and kids will help paint and decorate Santa’s summertime sleigh.  We need lots of help and, if you have experience and/or expertise, we could use that too! We will have special holiday snacks on Friday. 

·July 21 -22          Norwood Day Preparations

                        We’ve got Monday and Tuesday to get the float ready to go.  The parade is Tuesday@7pm. All are invited/encouraged to walk (or ride) with us!  Help us win 1^st prize!

·August 1            *Incredible Inventions

                         Who says that stuff is junk? What can you make out of recycled materials?  How big and crazy?  How useful or fun?  We will spend this week building and experimenting with all kinds of “junk” that we have collected.  Even our special Friday snack will be “invented” by the children. Do you have any junk to donate?  Bring it on down!

August 8            *Final Friday Potluck Picnic 

                         Fun, food and games for all, and the first ever Burwood Art Show.  Bring picnic fare to share!!!  Also, help us plan the future of Burwood--remember, the Rec Commission has promised nothing for next year.  If you and/or your children enjoyed your summer at Burwood, we need you!!!!
